Slam Dunk is a sports manga series that was first published in 1990 and ran for 31 volumes until its conclusion in 1996. The series follows the story of Hanamichi Sakuragi, a delinquent high school student who joins the Shohoku High School basketball team to impress a girl, Haruko Akagi. As Sakuragi becomes more involved with the team, he discovers a passion for basketball and helps lead the team to victory against their rivals.
