The movie is set in ancient China during the Qin dynasty, where a legendary assassin, Nameless (Jet Li), is captured and brought before the Emperor (Chow Yun-fat). The Emperor, impressed by Nameless's skills, offers him a deal: in exchange for his freedom, Nameless must kill a group of four notorious assassins who have threatened the Emperor's rule.
