The game's storyline follows Scorpion and Sub-Zero as they travel through time and space to prevent the evil sorcerer, Shang Tsung, from altering the course of history. Along the way, they encounter other characters from the Mortal Kombat universe, including Raiden, Liu Kang, and Kitana.
